Tell us who you are, who you run with? And how long have you been running for?
I’m Katherine, Head of Marketing at SHYU socks, a passionate marketer, creative, and runner. Sport has been a central part of my life for as long as I can remember, and about eight years ago I found my stride in running with Hunter Athletics. I haven’t looked back since, and along the way I’ve met some of my closest friends through running.
Why do you run?
Running means a lot of different things to me. It gives my days structure, connects me with like-minded people, and creates space for my best, most creative thinking. It challenges me, but in a way that feels energising rather than overwhelming.
What motivated you to take on your chosen race this year?
I love the grind and the challenge and pushing myself to see what I’m capable of keeps me on my toes. The Great Ocean Road is beautiful and being able to run along those rolling hills is a privilege. This will be my second time doing this race, and with that familiarity I’m ready to challenge myself again.
Do you have a goal?
Finish strong and don’t blow up over those rolling hills!
What’s your favourite SHYU?
ALL of them, but if I had to choose one; white | lavender | magenta.
Racing as part of Team SHYU, what does this mean to you?
This means a lot to me. I’ve been a customer of SHYU for a couple of years, and now I’m working full time within the business so being part of Team SHYU is incredibly fulfilling. I’m proud to be bringing this partnership to life as the official sock partner and representing SHYU out on course makes it even more special alongside my team. Believing in the brand for so long and now seeing it come to life is incredible, and I'm looking forward to sharing those moments on course with customers and athletes who’ve become close connections.
