What does SHYU mean?

SHYU (pronounced ‘shoo’) is a combination of the words ‘shoe’ and ‘you’. We make performance running socks designed for you and your race day super shoe.

What is the difference between ‘RACING’ and ‘TRAINING’ SHYUs?

The difference is both in purpose and construction. Our Racing SHYUs are built for race day, designed to complement the fastest shoes in your rotation. They’re lighter, with more streamlined cushioning while still providing protection where it matters. They are the sharpest version of SHYU.

Our Training SHYUs are built for the repeated demands of everyday running, with enhanced cushioning, increased ventilation and stronger construction through high-impact areas. More versatile colourways are designed to complement any shoe in your rotation, and every Training SHYU comes as a three-pack – one to wear, one in the wash and one ready to go. They are the strongest version of SHYU.

Racing for race day. Training for every day.

What size should I get?

You can find our full size guide here. We offer two or three sizes depending on the product, with the compression and stretch of each SHYU providing a secure, comfortable fit across a range of foot sizes.

What is the difference between the heights?

We make SHYUs in three heights: Crew, Quarter and Tab.

Our Crew sits highest above the ankle, giving you more coverage and maximum opportunity to complement your shoes. Quarter sits lower, with the design still clearly visible above the shoe.

Our newly redesigned Tab was introduced in response to runner feedback. It features a more structured, contoured profile that sits on and around the ankle, offering greater comfort and protection from shoe tongue irritation. It also sits slightly higher than our previous Tab, giving it a little more visibility above the shoe while maintaining a low-profile silhouette.

What are SHYUs made of?

SHYUs are made from a high-performance blend of 97% nylon and 3% elastane. Lightweight, breathable and quick-drying, the fabric wicks moisture away from the foot while providing the stretch needed for a secure, comfortable fit. It also washes well and is built to last significantly longer than a typical cotton-blend sock.

Are SHYUs right for me?

Yes. We made a SHYU for every-foot.

How should I look after my SHYUs?

To keep your SHYUs performing at their best for as long as possible:

  • Hand or machine wash below 30°C
  • Never tumble dry
  • Do not use bleach or fabric softener
  • Wash with like colours only

SHYUs are heat-treated to help prevent colour run. However, other garments can transfer colour onto them, so it’s particularly important to keep lights and colours separate when washing.

You may notice a small amount of bobbling before the first wash. This is completely normal and comes from the soft performance yarn we use, as SHYUs are not pre-washed. The yarn settles after washing and any initial bobbling should reduce.

A small amount of natural shrinkage may also occur after the first wash.
